Punch and Judy

Punch and Judy is a traditional, popular English puppet show featuring the characters of Punch and his wife Judy. The performance consists of a sequence of short scenes, each depicting an interaction between two characters, most typically Punch and one other character, it is a well known puppet show through out the world.

Horizon Theatre has its own unique Australian modern day version of this show that will delight audience of all ages. Originally designed for Horizon Theatre Company’s young people as a creative training tool directing them towards street performance, Punch and Judy includes movement, puppets, pantomime and theatrical dialogue.

The tale of Punch and Judy has changed over time, but the outline of early 19th century shows is usually still recognizable. It typically involves Punch misbehaving, struggling with his wife Judy and the Baby, and then triumphing in a series of encounters with the forces of law and order. This fun children’s show is a comedy and is intended to provoke lots of laughter.
